Philippe Babin
Noted for an ability to balance his own deep musical training with the ephemeral needs of the dance floor, Preach excels at injecting emotion and energy into the rhythmic, sometimes formulaic genre of techno music. Although he is only twenty-four years old, the ambitious, hard-working DJ, producer and label manager has become a key player in the continuing success of techno music in clubs and gatherings the world over.
With a slew of critically acclaimed releases for respected techno imprints including INTEC, Balc Hole, Session, Primate, Zync, Symbolism, Mbelektronics, Ascend and Iturnem, Philippe Babin’s prolific production pace has allowed him to rise meteorically within the ranks of techno’s international elite. Named as “the man to watch in 2005” by Carl Cox and recognized as Marco V’s favorite producer, Preach’s tracks are regularly charted by such dance music glitterati as Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Mauro Picotto, Misstress Barbara, Adam Beyer, Umek, Green Velvet & Chris Liebing, to name but a few, and his passionate DJ sets have taken dance floors by storm across North and South America, Europe and Japan.
Achieving widespread production and DJing success with relative ease, 2005 sees Preach achieving yet another milestone: the growing popularity on DJ Mag’s top100 poll in 2005 ranking him in #135 – climbing 69 positions from 2004 – and the establishment of his own label, Relic Recordings, as a home for his own recordings and mixes, and as an arena within which he can continue his collaborations with like-minded electronic music artists.
Preach's most recent releases, Shizzle (produced with Marco G for Yin Yang Records) and Relic Silver’s Funk Around the World, reached #1 and #4 respectively in Mixmag’s techno chart, and his upcoming bookings include Holland’s Dance Valley and Free Your Mind Festival, Serbia’s Exit Festival 05, Spain’s Fabrik, Florida 135, Family Club, La Real, Octopus Club and Asco Festival, and his first Relic Mix Compilation World Tour (Holland, Spain, Czech Rep, Brazil & Canada) .
