Nearly four years since the release of his last solo E.P on Enemy, 1984 (enemy001), Dustin Zahn steps up to the plate with Burned Out. This monstrous three-tracker hits the ground running with its A-side: Anti-Gray is a loopy techno track inspired by sun-drenched beach parties, but equally well-suited for peak time on dark dance floors with its swelling sirens and incendiary jet engine blasts. Zahn takes things in a slightly headier direction on the B-side with Paradise in a Pill, a trippy, synth-driven number with mysterious melodies that compliment a subterranean bass line. Zahn rounds out the release with Burned Out, a shuffly tune with an undulating groove, rhythmic complexity, and a playful use of effects. The E.P., which has already seen support from Radio Slave, Joel Mull, Mark Broom, Massi DL, Alexi Delano, Tony Rohr, Paco Osuna, and Par Grindvik, among others, is some of Zahns finest work to date. Each track is powerful, straightforward, and meticulously crafted.
