[Standard edition - 180g black vinyl in poly sleeve with no art-print insert] The Technokunst label journey continues with the third iteration of the Split Series, bringing together two long-standing figures from the deeper reaches of Techno. This time, Japan's Takaaki Itoh and Scotland's Deepbass are proving that in Techno, nothing is lost in translation. The EP opens with Takaaki's signature, timeless mental synth workout, "Fusioner". Deepbass strips the original back to its core elements and takes the track in a much more minimal, yet functional direction that we're sure is going to work wonders on any floor. On the flip, Deepbass continues to venture into more emotive territory with his original "Monolite". Unafraid to use vocal pads, the track is brimming with emotion, giving it a distinctly cinematic feel, like a story unfolding. Takaaki closes the record with a pounding iteration of "Monolite", with tones like those straight out of an astromech robotics division. Mastered by Gio at Artefacts Mastering and lacquer cut by Simon at The Exchange. The artwork is based on a digitally scanned painting on canvas by Dorka Berkes.
