The fifth release on Alexander Konings Upstruct-imprint is all about the Italian look on techno. Wellknown for releases on his own Titbit-label and work for the German software-giant Ableton, Giancarlo Lanza can be seen as one of the main representatives of the Naples technoscene. With his project D.A.T.A. he is already served an international audience with strong, uplifting minimal techno, now culminating in a special release on the up and coming Dutch label Upstruct. Walk with the Pit can be seen as a typical Lanza-production, where clean sounding tech-sounds slowly progress into a baseline-driven dancefloor monster. After that its a small step to Lanzas dark and deeper side, with the D.A.T.A. track Materia. On the A-side of this promising release there is a fitting remix of Walk with the Pit, done by another legendary Naples artist, Phutura. This dj/producer has made quite some impacts with releases on labels like Adagio, Minisketch and Globox, and reworks Lanzas sound to a deep, swirling tech-adventure. No doubt the best way to present a new Italian technosound to the dancefloor, this Upstruct will be one to remember. Some quotes: i will play Materia on my radio show for sure.
